Accessibility & Open Access Policy

The Journal of Development and Social Sciences (JDSS) is committed to making its scholarly content as accessible as reasonably possible to researchers, students, authors, reviewers, and other readers.

The journal aims to provide a clear and user-friendly online environment and to improve the accessibility of its website and published articles as its technical facilities develop.

1. Digital Accessibility

JDSS publishes its scholarly content through its online journal platform and provides articles in commonly used digital formats.

The journal aims to:

  • Use clear headings and an organized page structure.
  • Provide readable text and properly arranged article content.
  • Make journal navigation as simple as possible.
  • Support access through commonly used computers, tablets, and mobile devices.
  • Improve the accessibility of published material where technical improvements are available.

JDSS encourages authors to prepare tables, figures, and other content in a clear and readable form.

2. Alternative Access

If a reader has difficulty accessing an article, table, figure, or other journal material, they may contact the editorial office.

JDSS will make reasonable efforts to provide assistance or an alternative accessible version where technically possible.

3. Open Access

JDSS is a fully open-access journal.

All published articles are made freely available online immediately after publication. Readers do not need a subscription or payment to access the full text of published articles.

There is no embargo period for access to published JDSS articles.

Open access allows research to reach a wider academic and public audience and supports the free exchange of scholarly knowledge.

4. Article Access and Reuse

Readers may access and use published articles according to the copyright and licensing conditions stated by JDSS.

Articles published under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International (CC BY-NC 4.0) license may be:

  • Read and downloaded.
  • Copied and shared.
  • Redistributed through appropriate non-commercial channels.
  • Adapted for permitted non-commercial purposes.

Users must give proper credit to the original author(s) and JDSS and must follow the conditions of the applicable license.

5. Digital Preservation and Long-Term Access

JDSS aims to preserve its published articles and maintain their availability over the long term.

The journal uses appropriate digital preservation and archiving arrangements to protect its published content against accidental data loss, technical problems, or changes to the journal's online platform.

Where applicable, JDSS may use services such as the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN/LOCKSS) or other recognized preservation systems.

6. Persistent Article Identification

Where DOI services are available for JDSS articles, each published article is assigned a Digital Object Identifier (DOI). A DOI provides a stable way to identify and cite an article and helps readers locate the official publication record.

Authors and readers should use the official JDSS article page and DOI when citing published work.

7. Continuous Improvement

JDSS will continue to improve its website, article presentation, accessibility, and digital preservation arrangements as appropriate.

The journal welcomes suggestions from readers and authors about difficulties in accessing its content.
